JOHN LOPERA

Dr. Lopera is a graduate of the Catholic University in Santiago de Guayaquil, Ecuador where he received his Medical degree in 1991. He then returned to his native Colombia and completed his internship and rural service in Santiago de Cali, where he practiced primary care and emergency care for 4 years. After fulfilling the requirements of the ECFMG, he completed his Internal Medicine residency at the Central University of the Caribbean/HURRA (University Hospital Ramón Ruiz Arnau) in Bayamón, Puerto Rico in 2003. Before joining Soma Medical Center in 2020, he worked as a Hospitalist in different hospitals in Palm Beach County, and later spent 13 years as a primary care physician at a private practice in Boynton Beach, FL . He is licensed to practice medicine in the state of Florida. Dr. Lopera firmly believes in demonstrating compassion and empathy towards patients. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family and playing soccer.
