Meet our doctors


Dr. Sanchez was born in Santa Clara, Cuba. He graduated with honors from the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Medicas Villa Clara, Cuba in 1991. Then he completed his residency in Santa Clara and specialized in Pediatrics and Neonatology. He made the decision to leave Cuba and move to USA. Dr. Sanchez completed his second pediatric residency training in Texas Tech University Paul L. Foster Medical School, El Paso, Texas.

Upon completion of residency training he moved to South Florida and has been working as pediatrician at Juan Batista, MD PA since August of 2013. Dr. Sanchez is fellow of the American Academic of Pediatrics and is licensed to practice medicine in the states of Florida and Kentucky.


Oporta was born in Nicaragua and raised in the United States. She graduated in 2005 from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and also a Minor in Psychology and Child Development.

She graduated with a Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner in 2009 from University of Miami. Before joining Soma Medical Center, P.A. DBA, Juan E. Batista M.D P.A she worked in St. Mary's Medical Center, West Palm Beach, Florida as registered Nurse in pediatric emergency room. She is an active member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner and is Board Certified.


Adiena Amaro was born in Secaucus, New Jersey and moved to South Florida as a teenager. Her family is originally from Cuba, but moved to the United States in the 1960’s. Adiena graduated from Florida Atlantic University in 2006 with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She continued her graduate studies at South University, and in 2015, she graduated with her Master of Science in Nursing Degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program.

Before joining the Soma Medical Family, Adiena worked as an RN on cardiovascular medical and surgical units, and also on an oncology medical and surgical unit. She is an active member of the American Association on Nurse Practitioners (AANP), the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), Sigma Theta Tau International - Honor Society of Nursing, and the Oncology Nursing Society. She is board certified and licensed in the State of Florida.
